Identifying yourself is a hard thing to do. There is so much to cover! Even in my 16 short years of living, it definitely takes over 300-400 words to do this, but I’ll try anyways.
My name is Anna Jolliffe. I live, and have always lived, in Massachusetts with my parents. I am an only child which is not always a good thing. I've always wanted a brother or sister. My mom and I are really close. She is always looking out for me and I know that I can count on her for anything. My dad and I are close as well. He is a very easy person to talk to. I have played the violin and been a part of the school orchestra for eight years. I also play tennis and have been on the Milton tennis team for two years. I’m open-minded, caring, and I love to travel.
Something more exciting about myself is that I traveled to Israel this summer. It was amazing. The plane ride there was eleven hours and the plane ride back was thirteen (because of the wind direction). The long ride was worth it though. For five weeks I hiked Masada, floated in the dead sea, rode a camel, visited the kotel, slept in the desert....I could go on for longer, but I won’t. There was a heat wave when I was there so it was hotter than it normally is. You would think that withstanding this kind of heat for weeks would make me immune to the heat in Boston, but it hasn’t.
Looking into the future, I’m not exactly sure what I want to pursue as a living. I know that I want to go to college and possibly study for a year abroad. I also see myself living in a city. Whether it be Boston, New York, Chicago, or anywhere else, I love the energy that cities have, which suburbs don’t really seem to possess.
Hi Anna, I’m very excited to see you again this year. I’m very curious about your experience in Israel. Was this a family trip? Anyway, as usual, your writing is succinct, technically sound, and interesting. Like many students, I presume you have probably grown tired of the formal freshman/sophomore essays. You definitely have a flare for writing, and I hope this class allows you to develop your talent further.
