I am a student. I am a familiar face in the hallway. I am an artist, a musician, and a little sister.
To my brother Rory, I was the nuisance that plagued his life for many years. Those youthful times have changed, however. With the arrival of Rory's college acceptance letter, I achieved only-child status. Since then, the beam of my parents' attention has been boring a hole in the back of my skull on a daily basis. Thanks for that one, Roro.
Right now, the issues that dominate my life are as follows: school, friends, art, and music. I have fancied myself an artist since my toddler days, when I used to sketch indecipherable portraits and hang them proudly on my fridge. Since then, I have supplemented my love of art with lots of classes and the tutelage of my art-savvy father. Along with this I enjoy taking piano and violin lessons and playing lacrosse. When I was little I was intensely jealous of of my my brother's piano playing, and since then I have been secretly competing with him. (secretly, because I am sure he has no idea that this was ever happening.) Wow I'm like an undercover agent.
Hmm. To tell you the truth I'm not really at ease talking about myself. I have always been a shy person, and this kind of goes against my grain. Well, in the search of things to write about, my grain, apparently, is of Canadian origin. (Scottish to be exact.) Every summer I go there for two months, courtesy of my Canadian father and grandparents. I think I could technically become a dual-citizen if I really wanted to. I really don't understant why everyone dubbs Canada the "JV America". They obviously have never visited that great land.
But I digress. Up to now, my life has been a modge-podge of close friends, activities, and interests. My life's collage is hardly finished, however, and I hope that the future me chooses her colors well.
Well done Caeleigh. I like how you tie your entire post together with the art metaphor. I hope that, in addition to your aspirations to be an artist, you at least consider some high level writing goals. Surely, you have knack for tight, very inviting, prose. You’re a smart kid, and a fantastic student of English. I very much look forward to working with you again.
