During the Cold-War Era, countless examples of propaganda were released to the public. But the majority were from low profile sources. The American government was more or less decommissioned in their share of propaganda, so private sources took it upon themselves to encourage support of America, and discourage any kind of admiration for the Soviet Union. But these forms of propaganda never
However, a prestigious organization such as Time Magazine has much more power and influence that those minority texts. Time Magazine is the single largest weekly news magazine in the world. Millions of people all over the world read it every week. And because of Time's success, just about everything they say successfully reaches the public.
This cover of time magazine shows the Soviet leader Khrushchev presented as a war monger. the image is very apocalyptic. This dark feeling gives the reader the impression that Khrushchev is out to take over the world with violence.
In the Background is the explosion from a nuclear bomb. This is a huge use of propaganda. At the time, nuclear threats were a definite possibility. The Soviet Union could have struck at any time with their nuclear submarines, missile silos in Cuba, or from their home in Russia. The Soviets owned the largest stockpile of nuclear warheads in the world, and Khrushchev was not afraid to use them.
Khrushchev's image himself is another form of propaganda that Time Magazine used. Khrushchev has a burning look in his face. To a reader, this is not the face of a peaceful man. This is the face of a tyrant bent on controlling the world. A tyrant who expects nothing less than complete accordance to his demands. And the pointing of his finger at the reader makes th whole thing even more threatening.

  1. Seth, be careful. You have some basic grammar and formatting errors in this post. Be sure to proof-read everything before you post it.

I'm not exactly sure what your paper will argue, but this image seems like one that will work well. Fortunately, I think you will be able to retain much of this post to include in your final paper. You already seem to use the image to make a convincing argument.
