I really don't know how to identify myself. There are many things that make up who I am, so I guess I will discuss that. I have a younger sister named Isabelle, she is 14 and a freshman in high school. We get along pretty well, I think we will definitely get closer as we get older. My mom and I get along well. She supports me more than anyone, keeps me going when I am frustrated. She is an amazing problem solver and miraculously always knows exactly what to say. Of course we fight a lot but she is almost always right. I would someday love to learn to adopt some of her habits later on in life, she is always an optimistic person. My dad is extremely positive as well, he can get along with pretty much everyone. Since I was very little, my dad and I have been very close and it has remained that way into my teen years. He is a huge part of who I am and always will be.

Having fun is my favorite thing to do, whether it is with family or friends. My family can drive me insane, especially my cousins but there are times when I need them around or they need me. They are my family and that word means a lot to me. I try to go with the flow and do whatever as much as possible because I am someone who likes to be in control of things. While this is often a good thing with my studies, it can also be a negative thing. I just try and let things control me for a change, see where life takes me. I need a lot of practice when it comes to losing control but I think I will get there. I have some good strong friends that would stand by me through anything. I love to hang out with them because we all make each other laugh and do crazy things, reminding ourselves never to regret anything that put a smile on our faces.

There are definitely different sides to me as a person, definitely as I enter Junior year. This is the big year, the year to get ready for college and a part of me tells me to focus in on that goal and get there. Another part of me wants to be social and enjoy my years in high school before the tough years of college and graduate school. Yet another voice in my head discusses sports and the possibilities of exceeding in track and tennis. All the different sides to me tell me different things and this year will most definitely be a juggling act, trying to find a happy medium between all of them.

  1. Thanks Abigail. I look forward to getting to know you. Like many of your peers, you’re clearly thinking a lot right now. I tell my freshmen – is your sister one of them? – that the first day of freshman year is a big day. However, I’m rethinking that. What you write makes me realize just how much is at stake for high school juniors. So much to think about.
